Study Tips for Adults

Study Tips for AdultsYou may have decided to do some retraining or go back and finish a school certificate or university degree. Whatever the case you may be out of the habit of study and finding it hard to pick up again. So here?s some great study tips:

1. Set a schedule. Don?t think you will somehow magically fit the study in to your current life. Make a definite plan of time to study. What period of the day you will start and for how long. And then stick to it. Consider it to be inflexible.

2. Pick a study spot. If you are studying at an institution, then try and set your study time there, in the library or some other suitable location. There can be many distractions at home. If you do need to study at home, select a suitable quiet area and make it your regular study area. Moving about for study can also encounter distractions.

3. Form a study group. There is strength in numbers. Not only can you benefit from group discussions and interaction but a regular group study session will help you stick to a study timetable.

4. Make the most of every moment. Don?t limit yourself to your set study time and place. Use opportunities to go over notes or for contemplation of what you have learned. Don?t waste time on the bus or in the waiting room.

5. Get help. You may find that the institute at which you are studying have practical study help in the form of guidelines or helpful hints. Seek out all the help you can get and then make use of it.

7. Secure the support of family and friends. Talk to you family and friends and outline your aims in relation to study. This way they can be encouraging rather than be unintentionally distracting.

8. Take the pressure off. It?s a big step to return to study after a long break, so don?t expect it all to fall into place immediately. Don?t expect too much of yourself and set realistic goals in terms of the outcome you can expect.
